Superior Court deputy clerk 3 Theodora San Nicolas Decena retired on Friday after spending 20 years in court and one year with the Public School System.
“I will treasure it,” said Decena, referring to her 21 years of government services.
“I will miss the court’s staff especially,” said Decena who is turning 49 this June.
Decena said she decided to retire due to a family matter with her husband, former police officer and Office of Public Auditor investigator Rolando Decena.
“I want him to spend time with his mother,” she said, adding that she and her husband will be moving to the Philippines.
Mrs. Decena joined the local courts in 1992 as deputy clerk for Commonwealth Recorder. Her last position was deputy clerk 3, but she also assumed other responsibilities such as jury coordinator.
On Thursday, the local courts handed her a plaque of appreciation for her “outstanding public services” during a luncheon at a hotel.
Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho said he had known Mrs. Decena for many years.
“I will miss her. I know her as a capable, hardworking. And the court will really miss her not being here,” Camacho said.
