IMC finally OK’d to visit premises
The Department of Public Health has given the Island Medical Center the go ahead to return to its premises for the sole purpose of making appropriate reimbursements to those who have been waiting for health clearances to earlier screening exams.
In a statement released by DPH’s legal counsel Alexander Gorman, IMC is authorized by DPH to contact individuals and/or companies to reimburse them for physical examination fees administered by the clinic from September 2007 to March 2008 that were not issued.
IMC’s sanitary permit is still under suspension and “neither IMC nor any of its doctors or medical staff are authorized to practice medicine in the clinic in Susupe until further notice.”
The IMC in Susupe, operated by the Micronesian Health Corp., was closed down by the Department of Public Health due to alleged noncompliance with rules and regulations. The immediate suspension of the IMC started March 4, 2008.
The Department of Public Health Liaison Office located in the Department of Labor & Immigration in Afetnas Center may be contacted at 664-4821/2 to report any conduct inconsistent with this notice.
