A newly formed organization of alien workers of different nationalities will hold a membership general assembly at the Garapan Central Park this Sunday.

Irene Tantiado, interim president of Coalition of United Guest Workers (CNMI), said they are inviting all guest workers to attend the assembly to be conducted from 9am to 1pm.

In a brief statement, Tantiado said the coalition’s mission is to seek legal means to improve the lives of the guest workers and their families in the CNMI.

“We want to create a new voice for the guest workers in our communities, the nation and in the changing times,” she said.

Tantiado said that now is the time to unite and be part of a coalition that is run by guest workers and for alien workers.

“Families, friends and supporters are welcome to join,” she said.

Sunday will be the fourth meeting of the new organization.

The coalition recently expressed full support to a bill that will allow long-time foreign workers to stay for five-year periods in the CNMI.
