Lizama homers as Ol’Aces eclipse Suns

Jeremy Lizama belted two inside-the-park home runs to help the Happy Market Ol’Aces to a 32-5 crushing of the Shell Marianas Suns in Sunday’s Majors division game in the Saipan Little League at the Miguel Basa “Tan Ge” Pangelinan Field.

The win kept Ol’Aces within striking distance of the SaipanCell Patriots as they improved to 10-2 to remain half-a-game back of the defending champions’ 10-1 card.

Lizama blasted back-to-back inside-the-park four-baggers in the second and third with his last blast, a two-run homer, highlighting a 16-run third inning scoring barrage. He went 4-for-4 with four runs scored, a double, and three RBIs to go with his two round-trippers.

Lizama started the game with a first inning single then scored on an error by Suns catcher Derron Pangelinan. He had a solo shot in the second and blasted a two-run homer in the third as T.J. Sablan, who had a double, joined him in touching home plate.

He doubled in his second at bat in the third but was walked twice in the fourth.

Keola Camacho and Lancaster Secharmidal also homered for Ol’Aces, hitting inside-the-parkers in the first and third.

Camacho went 2-for-3 scoring twice, a double, and four RBIs, while Secharmidal went 3-for-4 with four runs, a triple, and two RBIs. Sablan also starred for Ol’Aces going 3-for-4 making four runs with two doubles, a triple, and two RBIs.

Ol’Aces battered the Suns bullpen the entire game going 29-for-37 for a .784 batting average.

Verlamson Secharmidal and Camacho divided pitching duties for Ol’Aces giving up a combined five earned runs on four hits with nine strikeouts and six walks.

[B]Red Sox 7, Pirates 5[/B]

Philip Passi lasted five innings in start to lift the Bank of Saipan Red Sox to a 7-5 triumph over the Kautz Glass Pirates.

Passi gave up four earned runs on five hits fanning six with three walks. Alex Monkeya closed out for the Red Sox striking out Austin Deleon Guerrero and J.R. Ada before forcing R.J. Ada to ground out to third baseman Thomas Reyes, who fielded it cleanly to first baseman Nathan Sablan.

Reyes also went 2-for-3 with one run, two doubles, and two RBIs.

[B]Dolphins 13, Twins 8[/B]

R.J. Knecht batted and pitched his way in the game as the PTI Dolphins trounced the Wells Fargo As Matuis Twins, 13-8.

Knecht went 4-for-4 with a two-run inside-the-park home run in the second inning with three runs and two RBIs. He then pitched three innings in start giving up five earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts before being relieved by A.J. Cabrera in the fourth.

Cabrera earned the win allowing two earned runs on four hits with six strikeouts and one walk.

Jonah Pangelinan went 3-for-4 with one run and two RBIs.

[B]Athletics 14, McDonald’s 13[/B]

Frankie Renguul pitched 2 1/3 innings to earn the win as the Tan Holdings Athletics A’s squeezed out a 14-13 win over Team McDonald’s

Renguul surrendered two earned runs on four hits fanning four and walking one batter. He got plenty of run support from Gregory Attao and David Ada, who combined for 5-for-8 in batting.

Attao went 3-for-4 with one run, a double, and three RBIs. He had a two-RBI single in the A’s six-run second inning and an RBI single in the third. Ada went 2-for-4 scoring twice with a double and an RBI.
