GVB honored as outstanding PATA member for 50 years
TUMON, Guam—The Pacific Asia Travel Association international board of directors held its biannual meeting in Colombo, Sri Lanka from April 4 – 7, 2008, and the Guam Visitors Bureau was honored, along with 33 other organizations, for being members in good-standing for over 50 years. The accolade was bestowed during PATA’s Annual Meeting Welcome to Sri Lanka Dinner, hosted by Sri Lanka Tourism on April 5.
During the biannual PATA meeting, Guam Visitors Bureau general manager Gerald S.A Perez was also elected to the 11-member Board Executive Committee. This is another marker of the long-term commitment between GVB and PATA. Guam and GVB are looking forward to many more years of productive partnership with PATA and its members.
Established in 1952, PATA has worked as a catalyst for promoting travel to the Asia Pacific region for 56 years. The organization provides a forum for Asia Pacific countries and islands to network, share information, ideas, and support one another. PATA acts as a liaison between the travel and transportation industries, advocating to improved services and facilities for visitors to the Pacific area. An invaluable partner in the tourism industry, PATA also provides members with the latest statistical information regarding travel trends and tourism development that affects our region.
