Demapan graduates from AIT training
Angel Aldan Demapan, the medical referral coordinator of the Hawaii Medical Referral Office, was among the 111 soldiers who successfully completed their Advanced Individual Training and graduated from the U.S. Army Quartermaster Center and School Logistics Training Department at Fort Lee, VA on April 9, 2008.
Demapan, a Unit Supply Specialist – 92Y, P Co., 266 Quartermaster Battalion, went through two months of intensive tactical and physical military training, preparing him to serve in the Hawaii Army National Guard. During AIT Training, Demapan was unanimously voted by his peers as the soldier who brought the most motivation to their platoon and was also selected as the lead cadence caller for platoon marches.
After enlisting in the Hawaii Army National Guard in 2007, Demapan completed 10 weeks of basic combat training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Montana, as a member of Bravo Co. 1/48th Infantry Battalion.
While training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Demapan also coordinated four wall mural projects in platoon battle bay and became qualified as a combat life saver. He graduated from basic training on Feb. 14, 2008, then immediately flew to Fort Lee, Virginia, for AIT training. Although enlisted under the Hawaii Army National Guard, whenever referred to as “from Hawaii”, Demapan was quick to explain his origins and provide a little history and plug for the Northern Mariana Islands.
Demapan is the son of Rosario B. Aldan and the late Juan Deleon Guerrero of Dandan, Saipan. He graduated from the Northern Marianas College in 2001 and will now enroll in the University of Hawaii’s ROTC Simultaneous Membership Program to work towards getting commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He returned to Honolulu after his graduation and is currently back at work eager to continue serving the CNMI through the facilitation of the Medical Referral Program in Hawaii.
“Angel Demapan joins the ranks of many of our young men and women from the Northern Marianas who volunteer to serve the people of the United States and to safeguard our freedom,” said Resident Representative Pete A. Tenorio. “I congratulate and extend my sincerest appreciation to PFC Demapan for his sense of service, dedication, and patriotism as a soldier in our nation’s Army.” (PR)
