Falcons claw Aztecs in Big League, 6-2

The Sablan Topline Falcons of Tanapag used a four-run second inning rally to score a 6-2 win over the UMDA Aztecs in Big League action in the Saipan Little League last Sunday at the Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field.

Ben Cabrera pitched seven no-relief innings and was tagged with eight hits, while striking out two batters and walking one. The Aztecs’ two runs were both earned.

Cabrera even pitched five shutout innings from the second to sixth, getting plenty of help from the Tanapag defense as he forced the Aztecs to hit fly balls, line drives, and grounders that were fielded cleanly by his teammates.

Cabrera only needed 77 pitches the whole game to help the Falcons secure the win or an average of 11 pitches per inning.

He also went 2-for-3 at the plate with one run, a double, and an RBI, while Juan Tenorio Jr. went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Tako Camacho, who pitched seven innings in no relief in the Falcons’ 10-3 win over the JET Holdings Jets on April 20, went 2-for-4 scoring twice in the game with a double and an RBI.

Hustlers 8, Dolphins 0

Vince Sablan had a no relief job on the mound as the Hustlers completed an 8-0 shutout win against the PTI Dolphins on Saturday.

Sablan gave up six hits with three strikeouts and no walks for the Hustlers.

Mart Pangelinan only went 1-for-3 but had a two-RBI triple in the Hustlers’ six-run first inning. Joel Satur went 3-for-4 with two runs, a double, and a triple.

Aztecs 3, Dolphins 1

Aztecs pitchers Okeril Techur and Nick San Nicolas combined for 12 strikeouts to help their team escape with a 3-1 win over the Dolphins on Thursday.

Techur pitched five no-hit innings in the start with seven strikeouts and two walks, while San Nicolas needed 28 pitches in pitching two-innings in relief giving up one hit fanning five with no walks.

Lawrence Sablan, who walked, scored the Dolphins’ lone run when he touched home plate on an error by Aztecs catcher Jonathan Pangelinan in the fourth.

Derrick Nedlic doubled off San Nicolas in the seventh for the Dolphins’ lone hit.

Elton Santos earned the loss pitching six innings allowing six hits with 10 strikeouts and four walks. All of the Aztecs’ runs were unearned.

JUNIOR LEAGUE
Jets 33, Fielders 5

The Juan S. Tenorio-Pacific Amusement Jets combined for 29-for-45 in batting and used a 12-run third inning scoring blitz to waltz to a 33-5 triumph over the Fielders.

Anthony Salas and McGarett Duenas combined for 10-for-12 at the plate.

Salas scored four times had a double and a triple to go with his a season-high seven RBIs. He had a bases-clearing triple in the third and a three-RBI double in the fifth. Duenas scored five runs had three doubles and four RBIs.

Harry Nakamura went 4-for-6 with four runs, a double, a triple, and four RBIs, while Justin Kintol went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.

The Jets bullpen gave up three hits with six strikeouts and six walks with all of the Fielders’ runs earned.
