A lawmaker will be hosting a public forum to report on activities of the 16th Legislature in its first three months.

Rep. Tina Sablan will provide status tables of legislation that have been introduced, as well as attendance and voting records of senators and representatives.

The first of what Sablan hopes to be a quarterly event will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at the MultiPurpose Center annex room, starting at 6pm.

According to Sablan, the public forum will also be an opportunity for community members to air their concerns on pressing issues such as power service, the economy, and size and cost of government. Members of the public can also comment on potential solutions under consideration by the Legislature, and to offer their own ideas.

Further, Sablan plans to circulate two popular initiatives for signatures. One initiative proposes to apply the Open Government Act to the Legislature. The other is to downsize the Legislature.

This Friday, Gov. Benigno R. Fitial and Washington Rep. Pete A. Tenorio will present their annual reports to the Legislature.

Fitial will deliver his third State of the Commonwealth Address at 9am, followed by Tenorio with, his Washington Representative’s Report.

The event will be held at the Multi-Purpose Center.
