Angan joins leaders on top
Angan notched its third straight win Thursday night to join three other teams on top of the leaderboard in the 9th Annual Pacific Islands Club-Miller Lite Spring Co-ed 4-Person Beach Volleyball League at the PIC sand courts.
Angan recovered from being shutout in the first set to score a hard earned 0-11, 11-7, 11-9 win over the youthful MHS Okies.
The win improved Angan’s record to 3-0 as they joined Kiss My Pass, Fatingali, and MHS Peers as the remaining unbeaten teams in the two-month long league.
15 Of Fame, Spike’A’Sauras and 670 Boom Boom are tied from fifth to seventh place with similar 2-1 slates while Gigi is alone at the eighth spot with an even 2-2 mark.
Snap Crackle Pop, Tsunami and Spiked Punch are tied with identical 1-2 cards while MHS Okies hold a 1-3 slate. Herbalizers and Brabu had yet to win after three games while MHS Young Gunz is still winless after four tries.
15 Of Fame, 670 Boom Boom, and Fatingali coasted to consecutive three-game sweeps of their opponents.
15 Of Fame brushed aside MHS Young Gunz, 11-5, 11-3, 13-11, while 670 Boom Boom blanked Snap Crackle Pop, 11-9, 11-6, 11-8, and Fatingali scored an 11-8, 11-5, 12-10 decision against Gigi.
Games tomorrow will have Tsunami battling Brabu in the 5:30pm first game, while 15 Of Fame clashes with Angan in the second game and 670 Boom Boom collides with Herbalizers at 7:30pm.
The final match will feature Spike’A’Sauras against Fatingali at 8:30pm with the latter gunning for their fourth straight win.
Last year, top seed Limarh completed its amazing one-loss season when they scored a 15-7 win over the Sand Smackers to win the title. They finished with a 10-1 card tallying 346 points while limiting their opponents to 225 and winning 27 sets in the three-month long tournament.
