The 14th Annual San Roque Golf Tournament will be held on June 28 at the Marianas Country Club Golf Resort in Marpi.

The tournament, which is a fundraiser for the church on the northern part of Saipan, will have its five customary flights—Championships, A, B, C, Ladies, and Seniors.

This early organizers have promised that the tournament will be a fulfilling competition for all that participate.

“This year promises to be a rewarding experience for all golfers as prizes and trophies will be awarded in [all five flights],” a statement from the San Roque Parish Council read.

Money raised from the golf tournament this year will be used for planned improvements to the San Roque Church’s social hall.

“The generosity and participation of those who have made this tournament as their pilgrimage for the last 13 years are most welcomed. The San Roque Parish invites those who have not played this event to join this year,” the San Roque Parish Council added.

Tee time is set at 12pm with registration set from 10am to 11:30am.

The San Roque Parish Council is also accepting donations in the form of cash or in-kind for prizes. For donations, call Fr. Bong Lopez at 322-2404 or 285-9121, Tony Cabrera at 322-0417, Felix Sasamoto at 322-1889 or any member of the San Roque Parish Council.

Jess “Mr. Unorthodox” Wabol won the 13th Annual San Roque Golf Tournament held in May 27, 2007, at the Marianas Country Club Golf Resort in Marpi.

Wabol took the top plumb despite firing a two-over par 74 following a 34 in the front and a 40 in the back performance.

Other winners last year were Rick Kautz of A Flight, Fr. Manny Corcuera of B Flight, James N. Babauta of C Flight, Kim Jeong Mi of Ladies Flight, and Joe Sablan of Seniors Flight.
