Chief Justice Miguel S. Demapan visited the Marianas Baptist Academy on Friday to talk with students on the great responsibilities that come with being or becoming a chief justice or judge.

Demapan shared also the difficulty and the financial cost it takes for chief justices and judges to be able to go to school, and the seriousness and dedication one would have to accomplish such a goal.

Eleventh grader and mock trial member Dencio Manglona said he learned so much with Dempan’s brief visit, such as the case of Japanese businessman Kazuyoshi Miura and the other tough decisions chief justices and judges make to make the CNMI a better and safer place to live.

“I learned a lot about many of the current issues the CNMI is facing and how there have been many attacks made against the judicial branch,” Manglona said.

Demapan shared that he spent three year in medical school before pursuing a career in law where his heart truly was.

MBA principal Ramir Trinidad said that, of the 20 years he has know Demapan, he has always shown his strong support for the school.

“He strongly supports us in all of our activities and believes our students are doing very well,” Trinidad said.

“The students were very delighted to have someone of Demapan’s stature speak and encourage them to serve the public,” Trinidad said.
