Shirley’s Coffee Shop/Blue Haus returned to its winning ways in the open division, while Bank of Saipan notched its third straight win in the masters class as action continued in the 2008 FMI Inter-Color Basketball League Wednesday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

The Foodmakers used a third quarter scoring outburst to coast to a 125-106 win over MIGS, while the Bankers leaned on its veterans in pulling off a 100-89 victory against Tan Holdings-CTSI Pacers.

John Santos finished what Ryan Sanciangco and Elmer Esdrelon started in helping the Foodmakers end its two-game skid to improve their record to 3-2 behind the unbeaten 3-0 slates of Ol’Aces and Advance X-Terminators.

Santos, held to two points in the first half and was even scoreless in the opening quarter, erupted for 21 markers in the final 20 minutes of the game turning a meager 56-47 halftime advantage into a rout.

From then on, MIGS played catch up but time was not on their side as they suffered their fourth straight loss in as many games.

Sanciangco paced the Shirley’s crew with 37 points, while Esdrelon chipped in 19 with Junar Guiab and Steve Rasa adding 14 and 11 markers.

Ronald Delos Reyes and Raymond Cadagat combined for more than half of MIGS points with 73 markers.

Delos Reyes led MIGS with a season-high 40 points going perfect from the free throw line, 11-for-11. He had 26 points in the first half as MIGS kept it close after the first 20 minutes of the match.

Cadagat, held to a season-low seven points in the first half, finished with 33 markers including 20 in the third period to back-up Delos Reyes’ scoring explosion.

They failed to get the needed scoring support from their teammates as no other MIGS player finished in double digits. Reyad Tagle and John Jugos had eight and nine each while Toto Banatasa had six. Jun Tabora, Gilbert Cabaddu, and Rasty Doronilla combined for eight points off the bench.

In the second game, which was the masters division, Alex Ocampo scattered 24 points to lead Bank of Saipan to a 100-89 decision against the Tan Holdings-CTSI Pacers.

Ed Palma backed him up with 23 points, while Warren Villegas contributed 21 markers to help secure for the league-leading Bankers their third consecutive win in as many games.

Ariel Jinang finished with a game-high 29 points for the Pacers, while William Opone, who came in the second half, managed to score 17 markers. Edel Cariño tallied 15 more for the Pacers.
