A call for united guest workers
There are so many reasons why guest workers need to come together. Times are changing and federalization is in the very near future. There are urgent and important issues facing us that need our immediate attention. It is necessary for us to come up with a solid plan on how to tackle these issues and the timeline. The clock is ticking and the time to stand alongside each other is right now.
The Coalition of United Guest Workers was formed to bring together all the guest workers regardless of nationality and affiliation. Our mission is to seek legal means to improve the lives of the guest workers and our families in the CNMI. We want to create a new voice for guest workers in our communities, the nation and in these changing times.
There is already a significant effort being done in the past and continuously until now which is primarily aimed at seeking better lives for guest workers. The coalition acknowledges and appreciates the huge contribution of our fellow guest workers who have been involved much earlier on. It is our sincere desire to work hand in hand with them in achieving a common goal.
If you are a guest worker who shares our mission, please attend the membership general assembly on May 4, 2008 at Garapan Central Park. If you have questions, please email me at irenebdi@yahoo.com. Families, friends and supporters of guest workers are welcome to join.
Each of us is vital in making the coalition succeed in all its endeavors. Remember that if we will not speak or stand for what we believe and hope for, who will?
United we stand! It is possible.
