Dekada Movement and Mr. Woodruff
The Dekada Movement and Mr. Woodruff are fighting very hard to pursue their own agenda to save their faces by pacifying the local indigenous people to support their cause for improved immigration status for nonresident workers. They must pursue this route because they collected a lot of money from poor alien workers. Imagine the amount (5,000 workers x $100 per worker = $500,000). This is no small potato. If you ask me, given this amount, to lobby, fight for the cause, bend over backwards, do whatever it takes to accomplish the mission, I will likewise do it, especially with the depressed economy. Do not blame them for fighting hard!
As for the locals, do not listen to their cause because of their motives. As for our leaders supporting the cause, think twice. You have the constitutional duty to prioritize the affairs of the local indigenous people as well as all U.S. citizens. Protect them from exploitation. The founding fathers and our elders did not vote to accept the Covenant with the United States to become a Commonwealth just so our people will be exploited by outside Third World influences. Our elders voted so that our generation and more generations to come will reap the benefits of being a part of the American family. Like President George W. Bush once said, stay the course! And this course is to enhance the lives of all indigenous and U.S. citizens in our Commonwealth. Our leaders must protect all jobs for all U.S. citizens. This mantra should be a part of our leaders daily motto: “All jobs created within the Commonwealth, belongs to all U.S. citizens of the Commonwealth.” No ifs, no buts.
Also, kudos to Mr. Pellegrino and his group for initiating the Northern Marianas Trade Institute to train local residents in the trade occupations. I encourage all leaders to extend their full support to Mr. Pellegrino’s noble intentions.
