NYBA moves U16 league meeting today
Organizers of the upcoming Northern Youth Basketball Association 16-and-under league moved the scheduled Monday coaches meeting to today, April 24, 6:30pm at the Marianas Health Services office in middle road.
League coordinator Joe Diaz said they are requesting coaches of all participating teams to attend the meeting in order for their squad to be included in the list and schedule this season.
The 16-and-under league will have three divisions namely Division I, 12-and-under; Division II, 14-and-under; and Division III, 16-and-under.
The league is set to open on April 28 at 5pm at the Garapan Basketball Court across from the Bank of Guam.
Two games will be held every Mondays, Wednesday sand Fridays with makeup games to be played every Saturday. The first game will start at 5:30pm and the second game follows at 7pm.
The entrance fee is $100 per team and a maximum of 14 teams is allowed in each division.
Last year, the G-Stars, G-Rollers, and San Antonio Sixers won their respective division titles against separate opponents.
Jericho Cruz scored 29 points to lead G-Stars to a 97-72 rout of G-Rollers in the 16-and-under division, while J.R. Concepcion tallied 19 markers to help G-Rollers to win the 14-and-under title with a 72-56 dumping of the Southern Sonics.
In the Under-12 division, Roxanne Duenas scored 10 of her 14 points in the first half as the Sixers held on to a 34-33 victory over G-Rollers.
