Another big bush fire broke out yesterday afternoon on Saipan, sweeping down a portion of a mountain in Kannat Tabla.

Smoke blanketed some areas in Kannat Tabla, Chalan Laulau, and Chalan Kiya as the fire blazed for about two hours.

Department of Public Safety spokesperson Lei Ogumoro said that no one was reported injured and no house was destroyed.

Ogumoro said an estimated two acres of grassland were damaged by the flames.

She said the fire was reported to DPS at 2:02pm and was contained at 4pm.

Ogumoro said five firefighters responded to the area.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, she said.

A big bush fire also broke out at Wireless Ridge on Capital Hill on Monday. Ogumoro said yesterday that the fire was contained Monday at 9pm.

About 600 acres of grassland were damaged in that blaze, she added.
