Sunday opening for Tinian Dynasty caging
Organizers of the 8th Annual Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino Basketball League moved the opening date of its 2008 season from Saturday to Sunday.
The committee met Monday night with the coaches and players of the seven participating teams and they also held a draw lots for the opening day matches.
The opening will be held at the Tinian Gymnasium at 5pm where the eight participating teams will parade with their muses. Special numbers are also lined up to liven up the opening ceremony.
Defending champion Food and Beverage Service Tigers will open up its title bid against Taga-Housing Department.
Housing Department will have its hands full when they battle the Tigers, who will be led by two former most valuable players.
The Tigers will lean on the game-long brilliance of 2007 MVP Charlie “Spiderman” Fernandez and 2006 winner Noel “Superman” Sabordo.
The second game will have player-coach Mon “Vetran” Apostol’s F&B Chefs facing last year’s runner up Casino Department Titans, who will be bannered by guard Earl “Beng” Mangguera and 6-foot-3 rookie Roann “Ringgo” Awa.
Two games will be played every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday while one match is scheduled on Sunday.
Organizers also cleaned and painted the Tinian Gymnasium in time for Sunday’s opening.
Club TDHC organizes the league, which also has Finance, Shipping, Housekeeping and F.O., and Security Department as the other competing teams.
Club TDHC is headed by acting president Eddie Cannoay and supported by TDHC manager Tom Liu and adviser Antonio “Uncle” Quan.
