Mobil increases its gas prices anew
Gas prices on Saipan are slowly creeping toward the $5 a gallon mark, after Mobil Oil Marianas increased its gas prices again effective Sunday night. It was the company’s fifth increase so far this year.
A check with Mobil gas stations yesterday showed that the company increased its prices of regular and super gasoline by 12 cents a gallon. Mobil also increased its diesel price by 14 cents a gallon.
As part of regular practice, the company does not publicly announce price increases. It also does not explain the impetus behind the adjustment of gas prices on the island.
With the new prices, Mobil’s self-service regular gas is now $4.329 a gallon, while self-service for super is now at $4.519 per gallon.
For full service, the regular is now $4.459 a gallon and $4.639 a gallon for super.
Mobil’s diesel is now at $4.779 a gallon.
Shell Marianas Inc. is expected to also increase its gas prices in the next few days. Unlike Mobil, Shell usually announces its gas price increase and gives an explanation.
Last April 10, Shell increased its gasoline products by six cents a gallon, and 10 cents a gallon for diesel.
After a day or two, Mobil also increased its gas prices.
