DCCA men’s duplicate women’s feat

The men’s team of the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs followed the footsteps of its women’s squad after dominating the individual awards in the Inter-Government Slow-pitch Softball League.

Veteran slugger Mel Sakisat won three individual trophies earning him the regular season most valuable player award. He was one of the players that helped DCCA won the pennant going 18-0 in the regular season.

Sakisat logged in MVP numbers winning the batting title with a .607 average, and connected with a total of 22 doubles the whole season. He then added the pitching crown after posting a 6.02 ERA.

Sakisat’s teammates Joey Dela Cruz, Craig Sanchez, and Julian Camacho also won individual honors.

Dela Cruz was the home run king with 19 and added the RBI title with 57, while Sanchez scored the most runs this season with 57. Camacho had the most triples, connecting with 17.

Public School Systems’ John Deleon Guerrero was the league’s strikeout king with 19, while the Mayor’s Office earned the Sportsmanship award.

Pete Tomokane was named the finals MVP after leading the DCCA hit parade going 5-for-6 with five runs scored to go with his eight RBIs and three home runs including a grand slam.

Other members of Team DCCA were Jun Saralu, Myron Sablan, Eli Rangamar, Ben Tagabuel, James Fleming, Mario Sablan, and Jon Tenorio.

DCCA swept the men’s and women’s titles after beating separate opponents in the finals. The DCCA men’s coasted to a 43-11 win over Aguaguat in last week’s finals, while their women’s team swept Northern Marianas College-Proa in their three-game series, 18-14, and 13-10, on April 11.

Aguaguat was the runner-up in the pennant race and placed second to DCCA in the championship. PSS placed third in the finals after losing to Aguaguat in the semifinals.
