The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. yesterday implemented another load shedding due to repairs being conducted on two power engines at Power Plant 1 in Lower Base.

This developed as CUC was able to purchase yesterday 3,500 barrels of fuel for the continued operation of Power Plant 1.

According to Power Division acting manager Gary P. Camacho, the load shedding took effect yesterday due to engine No. 3 being off-line due to turbocharger and cylinder repairs.

He said the repairs are expected to be completed yesterday.

Last night, power engine No. 8 was also scheduled to be taken offline for the exhaust and cylinder repairs.

Camacho said that repairs on engine No. 8 is expected to be completed today, Friday.

“Should there be additional emergency repairs requiring an engine to be taken offline, the current power outage schedule will continue to be in effect,” he said.
