4-person beach V-ball attracts 15 teams
Fifteen teams will be competing for the title in the 9th Annual Pacific Islands Club-Miller Lite Spring Co-ed 4-Person Beach Volleyball League, which opened its 2008 season on Tuesday at the PIC beach side.
Action began on Tuesday night with 670 Boom Boom, Gigi, Snap Crackle Pop, and MHS Peers besting their opponents to open their respective title bids on a winning note.
All four games needed the third set to decide the winner of each match.
670 Boom Boom overcame a first set loss to beat GCA, 6-11, 11-8, 11-1, while Gigi needed endgame poise to secure a 3-11, 11-3, 14-12 win over the Herbalizers.
Snap Crackle Pop overcame Tsunami’s gallant stand to escape with an 11-3, 5-11, 11-2 triumph while MHS Peers pulled off a 2-11, 11-7, 11-6 decision against 15 of Fame.
The other competing teams are Angan, Fatingali, Kiss My Pass, MHS Okies, MHS Young Gunz, Spike’A’Sauras, and Spiked Punch.
Four games will be played every Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in order to finish the season by June. The first game will start at 5:30pm with the final match at 8:30pm.
Fatingali, MHS Young Gunz, Spiked Punch, and Gigi were playing MHS Okies, Spike’A’Sauras, Angan, and Kiss My Pass at press time. Results were not yet available as of this writing.
The opening banquet was held last Thursday where the four-man roster for each team was drawn.
Last year, top seed Limarh completed its amazing one-loss season when they scored a 15-7 win over the Sand Smackers to win the title. They finished with a 10-1 card tallying 346 points while limiting their opponents to 225 and winning 27 sets in the three-month long tournament.
