CUC implements another load shedding
The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. yesterday implemented another power rotation, but tried to spare areas with schools from the outages.
CUC Power Division acting manager Gary P. Camacho said that load shedding was needed as the rehabilitation and maintenance repairs on the power engines and generators at the Power Plant I in Lower Base continue.
“Engine No. 3 got mechanical problems and they [CUC crew] were performing repairs today and will work throughout the night to fix it,” Camacho said.
CUC was expected to complete the repairs on Engine No. 3 this morning, Thursday.
The outages began at 8am. From 8am to 10am, the outage affected Beach Road Garapan at Kristo Rai Church south to San Jose intersection.
From 10am to 12pm, affected areas were Joeten Commercial Complex in Dandan, Kannat Tabla, Standford Hotel area, streets in Upper China Town, Upper Miha in Garapan, and Taro Sue to portions of China Town.
From 12pm to 2pm, the outage was at portions of Capitol Hill, Kagman, and Papago.
From 2pm to 4pm, the entire grid of feeder 7 or the areas in Lower Base, north to Tanapag, Achugao, San Roque, As Matuis, and Marpi had no power.
From 4pm to 6pm the scheduled outage was in Lower Dandan, Isley Field, CPA/airport, and As Perdido.
From 6pm to 8pm, the blackout was set at Mount Carmel south to portions of Chalan Kanoa.
From 8pm to 10pm, the outage schedule was in Koblerville, As Gonno, San Antonio, and Afetnas.
Camacho said that CUC would try to maintain this contingent schedule.
“Such contingent schedule may be modified in future public notices. In addition, please be informed that such contingent schedule may be altered to address particular emergencies when necessary,” he added.
