Be aware of the futurity of your actions
The Senate passed S2739, and now it goes to the house. Wendy and Dekada will have a big celebration. If it passes in the House and is signed there will be an even bigger fiesta. The real question is where will the contract workers be in a year or two? There seems to be a very real fear among those that are now cheering that they will be somewhere other than the CNMI. You have to be aware of the futurity of your actions.
On second note, John Gourley has a very logical and valid professional opinion why the PEW monument is a bad idea for the CNMI. As a past participant of WPRFC representing the CNMI I also concur that it’s a less than good idea. Lastly, the people (and government, i.e. elected representatives) of the CNMI ought to listen to Captain Patrick Ulechong’s concerns about Fred Nosek’s marine business. Both Patrick and Fred were in the marine field in the CNMI well before I was, and I looked up to them and was later privileged to call them peers. If local citizens cannot prosper and make a living for their family from the tourists that come to the CNMI, why should anyone?
