Gridley joins Judiciary as PIO, admin officer
Virginia Gridley, a former CNMI television news reporter, has joined the Judiciary as public information officer and administrative officer.
Gridley, who is also a former Ms. CNMI Universe, will be taking over the post of Trinidad Diaz, an administrative officer for the Supreme Court, who resigned her post in March 2008.
“We are pleased to announce Gin Gridley’s hiring as Administrative Officer and Public Information Officer for the Judiciary,” stated the Judiciary news release.
In December 2007, The National Center for State Courts and State Justice Institute issued a report titled Strategic Plan and Time Standards for the CNMI Judicial Branch. One report recommendation was appointing a PIO to meet the needs of the public. Justices and judges are forbidden to comment during pending cases and a public liaison is critical in supporting communication between the Judiciary and the community.
“The court is supporting current cost cutting measures and feels Ms. Gridley’s hire as a replacement is a sound financial choice. She is taking on multiple roles at a salary lower than Mrs. Diaz, and filling critical needs of the Judiciary to serve the public and public interests,” the statement said. (PR)
