Mettao mesmerizes field in qualifier

John Mettao fired the score to beat in this coming Refuluwasch Golf Association April Ace of the Month Tournament after topping the qualifier with a superb net score of 65.
Mettao’s 65, built around a gross score of 80 (39-41), actually was only second in last Sunday’s tournament to Asterio Tawanpiy’s scorching net 62 (Gross 76, 37-39). But since the latter already won the February Ace, Mettao had the qualifying score to beat.
Third place during the qualifier, held at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort east course, went to Joe Wabol and his net 68 (86, 41-45), while Don Dunlop and Bill Kaipat tied at fourth and fifth with identical 69s.
Joe Demapan (70), Tars Olopai (70), Andy Nepaial (70), Nick Sablan (72), Jordan Kossam (72), Adam Hardwicke (75), Sonny Flores (75), Louie Tilipao (76), and Jess Wabol (78) also took part in the April qualifier.
In the closet to the pin, Mettao was without peer in hole No. 6, while Demapan was the best in hole No. 15.
The RGA April Ace of the Month Tournament will be held on April 13 at the same Kagman golf venue.
In related news, RGA reminded the public that that the club has halved its membership dues for 2008 from the long-standing fee of $50 to only $25.
This happened after RGA recognized the hard economic times and decided to give its members and future members a break by slashing the cost of becoming part of RGA.
The club hopes that by making membership in RGA a little lighter in the pocket, more weekend warriors will now return to the golf links and renew their membership or apply as new members of the golf club.
