DCCA on track for undefeated season

With the pennant already in the bag, defending champion Department of Community and Cultural Affairs is aiming to close out the 2007 season of the Inter-government Slow-pitch Softball League men’s division undefeated.

DCCA won its 17th straight game on Wednesday, dealing Legislature a 12-2 beating, to complete a sweep of the elimination round and now enjoys the top seeding as the league enters the playoff round.

The Top 8 teams after the single-elimination round advances to the playoffs.

Julian Camacho, Mel Sakisat, Joey Dela Cruz, and Mario Sablan all went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead DCCA’s easy win.

Camacho and Sakisat also had two-run home runs in the first and second innings, respectively. Camacho also scored three runs, had a triple, and four RBIs, while Sakisat made two runs and had two RBIs.

Dela Cruz scored twice and had a double, while Sablan reached home plate once and had a two-RBI double in the top of the fifth.

In other games, Commonwealth Health Center shored up its playoff bid with a 19-5 blasting of Division of Parks & Recreation, while Department of Labor coasted to a 16-6 triumph over Law & Order.

Defending women’s champion DCCA also had an easy win when they breezed past CHC, 19-9.
