A group of nonresident workers on the islands will be holding a prayer vigil in April to express support for the federalization of the CNMI’s immigration system.

The Human Dignity Movement on Saipan will be leading the prayer vigil that will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the American Memorial Park Amphitheater, from 5pm to 8pm.

The group is inviting all guest workers—Filipinos, Chinese, Bangladeshi, Nepalese, Korean, Japanese, Canadian, Sri Lankan, and others, including local residents and business owners to attend the vigil and support the event.

“Our struggle for justice, social and political rights, and due process has long been a long one. We hope we are nearing the end,” said Jerry Custodio, president of Human Dignity Movement. “We will be offering inspiration and hope through prayers, and speakers.”

Participants are being asked to wear white t-shirts, if possible, and to bring their U.S. citizen children. [B][I](Saipan Tribune)
