Quinn is new NMITF president
Longtime Saipan resident and triathlon enthusiast Russ Quinn was elected as the new Northern Mariana Islands Triathlon Federation president during the group’s general membership meeting last Saturday at Bobby Cadillac’s in Garapan.
Quinn replaced former president Brad Ruszala, who stepped down due to conflicts with his work schedule and obligations in the CNMI National Men’s Football Team.
Quinn leads the 2008 NMITF board that includes Joshua Berger, vice president; Lewie Tenorio, secretary; Mike Johnson, treasurer; and board members Fred Camacho, Rex Kosack, and Mike Stewart.
He said their first order of business is to set up a calendar of events where they can hold a kids and enticer triathlon races, reviving the OREXTERRA, and clearing of the trails for off-road bikers.
He also included in the agenda the holding another mountain bike race, a weekly Sunday road bike ride, and planned races on Tinian—Tour de Tinian and Tinian Triathlon.
Quinn is also inviting past and current members to renew their membership now. Members are entitled to discounts to upcoming NMITF events aside from helping fund the planned multi-sport activities. The membership fee is $25.
“We are going to try to do a better job of keeping information flowing, and fun events lined up to keep people motivated to train,” said Quinn.
