Admin leave today is cancelled
The administrative leave for non-essential Executive Branch employees that was initially approved for today has been cancelled to allow these government entities to complete much-needed work before the holidays.
The CNMI Office of the Governor issued a memorandum yesterday informing them that non-essential employees of the Executive Branch would not be required to work today in recognition of New Year’s Day. However, just an hour later, the memorandum was recalled, and a mass email was issued stating that today would be a regular workday and all employees must report to work.
“Please be advised that the administrative leave memorandum dated Dec. 29, regarding administrative leave on Dec. 30, is to be recalled and disregarded, effective immediately. We thank everyone for their hard work this past year, and would like to kindly advise the Commonwealth government Executive Branch’s non-essential employees that there will be work [today], Dec. 30,” said the email
According to Brianna Hunter, Office of the Governor acting special assistant for communications, the cancellation is because government offices will be closed on Monday.
“I was advised to recall [the administrative leave] because information came in from some departments and agencies that they need the workday to continue services both within the government and for the public, considering the holiday on Monday will be taking away a day of work,” she said.
