Admin leave OK’d for gov’t workers
Heading into the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Gov. Ralph DLG Torres authorized non-critical employees of the Commonwealth’s departments and agencies to take administrative leave at 1pm yesterday, Nov. 25, 2020, and for all of Friday, Nov. 27, 2020.
In a statement last Tuesday from the Office of the Governor, it quoted Torres as saying: “Despite the challenges the pandemic has brought this past year, we are blessed and grateful to be living in one of the safest places in the United States from COVID-19. As we celebrate Thanksgiving, we are reminded of the hard work being done every day by our doctors, nurses, first responders, COVID-19 Task Force, and government employees to protect our community. During this unprecedented time, the proactive leadership of our government, dedication of our public servants, and the cooperation of our community are among the many things we are grateful for in a year filled with global challenges.
“To everyone who calls the Marianas home, Lt. Gov. [Arnold I.] Palacios and I thank you all for looking out for one another this year. It takes a home, a village, an island, and one Commonwealth to keep our closely-knit community safe, and we did that together against all odds.
“As we reflect on the graces we have received this year, let us not forget our friends and neighbors this time of year. Let us use this holiday weekend as a time to share our blessings and continue to look out for one another.
“We wish you all an abundance of blessings and a happy and healthy Thanksgiving.” (PR)
