Admin leave for non-critical govt employees starts Wednesday
Gov. Ralph DLG Torres has approved granting administrative leave to all non-critical government employees on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021, starting at 12pm as an early start to the Thanksgiving holiday and another administrative leave the entire day of Friday, Nov. 26, 2021.
This means all CNMI government employees can take off from work at noon of Wednesday and return to work on Monday, Nov. 29, 2021.
In the directive he issued last night, Torres said he is authorizing the administrative leave in the spirit of giving thanks.
“For nearly the past two years, the ongoing global pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges to our Commonwealth, our nation, and to the world. For this reason, we owe great thanks to our front-liners—our doctors, nurses, first responders, the COVID-19 Task Force, and all our government employees for demonstrating proactive leadership, commitment, self-sacrifice, and service to our people during times of uncertainty.
“We also extend our gratitude to the members of our community for your active participation and the individual roles you have played to keep your family members, friends, and neighbors safe. It is only through your cooperation and care that the CNMI has been able to remain one of the safest places in the world from COVID-19. Likewise, it is only with your help and partnership that we may continue to keep safe as we move forward alongside the rest of the world in adapting to a new normal.
“Last Thanksgiving, I asked all of you to continue to look out for one another, and you have done more than that through your mutual kindness and cooperation. I will remain forever grateful to serve you. My family, my administration, and I wish you and your loved ones many blessings, good health, and a happy and safe Thanksgiving,” he said.
