Education Commissioner Dr. Alfred B. Ada said Wednesday that any Public School System employee selected by the transition team of governor-elect Arnold I. Palacios and lieutenant governor-elect David M. Apatang to perform any transition work during regular work hours must apply for annual leave.

Ada advised affected PSS employees in a memorandum to communicate with and obtain the approval of their immediate supervisor first and urged PSS employees to reach out to their immediate supervisor about the transition matter.

Last Friday, Juan S. Reyes, the executive chairman of the transition and inauguration committees for the office of Palacios and Apatang, asked for Ada’s assistance in authorizing the temporary assignment of some PSS personnel to help in the transition and inauguration committees.

Reyes attached in his letter to the commissioner a list of PSS personnel that are immediately needed within this week to commence the initial contact for the transition and the planning efforts for the inauguration committees.

The inauguration of Palacios and Apatang will be on Jan. 9, 2023.

The Commonwealth Election Commission board is expected to certify the gubernatorial runoff election results during a meeting today, Friday.
