Ada Gym repairs could take another week
The Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium is still undergoing minor renovations and re-opening of the facility could take another week, according to Oleai Sports Complex program coordinator Elias Rangamar.
Rangamar said that currently, events and leagues could not utilize the gym because the minor repairs that were supposed to be done last week, have yet to be completed. Rangamar added that he hopes repair work will finish by next week.
“We can’t hold anything at the Ada Gym because it’s not ready yet. I’m hoping next week we can start (hosting leagues) in here when the floor and the lights are done,” he said.
Rangamar said that basketball and volleyball leagues have already been scheduled for September and will begin once the facility repairs are completed. If anyone wants to book the Ada Gym for practices or leagues, organizers are free to contact him at 234-6672.
Rangamar added that the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfield is already in use and there are games every Saturday.
The track and field are also open to the community for rugby, soccer, or for those who want to walk, jog, or run the track.
The major repair for the facilities at the sports complex will start once funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency is made available. For now, Rangamar and the Oleai Sports Complex staff are opening some of the facilities to host local events, including school leagues.
