The Marianas expects to see an active monsoon weather in the coming days.

According to the Homeland Security and Emergency Management, a monsoon trough is stretched across the region just south of the Marianas. There is also a tropical disturbance centered about 420 miles southeast of the Marianas that is expected to move slowly toward the northwest.

The tropical disturbance is expected to slowly develop and bring locally heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms at times to the region in the next few days. Improving weather is expected by Sunday or Monday.

In addition to showers and thunderstorms, winds gusting to 30 mph or more are possible, mainly on Friday and Saturday.

Members of the public that are living in low-lying or flood-prone areas are advised to be prepared for the possibility of flooding in the next few days. (HSEM)
