ACS, SIS to dispute MS badminton title

The Agape Christian School Torchbearers and Saipan International School Geckos will square off in the championship game of the TakeCare-Public School System Interscholastic Badminton League this Saturday at the TSL Sports Complex after topping their respective brackets last Saturday.
Francisco M. Sablan Middle School and Tanapag Middle School will vie for the bronze medal on the same day. Both games will be played in the morning from 8:30am to 11am.
In Bracket 1 behind the Torchbearers, FMS has 63 points, Tinian Jr.-Sr. High School has 29 points, Hopwood Middle School 1 has 38 points, ChaCha Oceanview Middle School has 11 points, and DanDan Middle School is last with 7 points.
In Bracket 2 behind the Geckos is TMS with 51 points, third is HMS 2 with 49 points, Saipan Community School is fourth with 35 points, and Dr. Rita Hocog Inos Jr.-Sr. High School and Mount Carmel School both have 0 points.
During last Saturday’s last round-robin game of the season, SIS’ Nara Kim, Lina Tsukagoshi, Frank Li, Allen He, Michael Zhou, and Jason Yu, defeated five consecutive schools which include Dr. Rita Hocog Inos Jr.-Sr. High School, SCS, TMS, MCS, and HMS 2, in a complete sweep of all five events—boys and girls singles, boys and girls doubles, and mixed doubles which garnered them 75 points.
ACS’ May Kim, Joanna Zhang, Joyce Ying, Daniel Yang, Raffy Cai, Daniel Song, and Danny Cheng, on the other hand, swept almost all schools except for one for a total of 67 points. ACS’ toughest foe was FMS, which they defeated 9-6. The Torchbearers came back however and swept Tinian MS, DMS, HMS 1, and CCOVMS.
