Ace Hardware cruised to 75-59 victory over 360 Restaurant in the first game in the 2016 Emon Lodge No. 179 Brotherhood/IT&E Basketball League last Wednesday at the Civic Center Basketball Court.

Djay Ong powered Ace Hardware to the 16-point win after firing 35 markers. Two other Ace Hardware players finished in twin digits with Jethro Cruz and Sid Quan adding 13 and 11, respectively, to back up Ong.

With Ong finding his target early, Ace Hardware led right at the get-go and never gave 360 Restaurant a chance to bounce back. Ong knocked in 10 points in the first period, including 8 straight markers midway in that canto to give Ace Hardware a 21-10 advantage.

The young Ace Hardware forward added 10 more in the second frame to stretch their lead to 14 at the break, 38-24. Ong traded baskets with 360 Restaurant’s Kenneth Viray and got support from Quan and Cruz to help Ace Hardware keep its double-digit advantage.

Ong was still unstoppable in the second half and capped his long-game brilliance with 12 more markers in the fourth quarter to hand Ace Hardware its third victory in four games. He also won his shootout against Viray, who finished with a team-high 24 markers.

Roy Hernandez was the only other twin-digit scorer for 360 Restaurant, but most of his points came when the game was already decided.

Ace Hardware 75— Ong 35, Cruz 12, Quan 11, Brennan 8, Younis 4, Chariton 3, Camacho 2.

360 Restaurant 59 — Viray 24, Hernandez 13, Cabanas 8, Raynor 6, Claveria 4.

Scoring by quarters: 21-10, 38-24, 52-42, 75-59.
