In response to the Amendment to Directive 14 of the Second Executive Order 2020-04 issued by Gov. Ralph DLG Torres, all areas of the American Memorial Park are closed to encourage the residents of Saipan to comply with social distancing guidance in support of federal and local efforts to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus on our island.

Effective yesterday, March 31, 2020, all access points into American Memorial Park along pathways, roads, and parking areas were closed. The park will offer no services outside those that support emergency visitor safety and resource protection. The marinas at Smiling Cove and Outer Cove are also closed by order of the governor. “We will notify the public when we resume full operations and provide updates on our website and social media channels,” said the National Parks Service, which operates the park, in a notice yesterday.

The NPS encourages everyone to take advantage of the many digital tools already available to explore American Memorial Park. Check out its website (nps.gov/amme) and follow @americanmemorialpark. (PR)
