Abandoned CK building found ablaze

An abandoned concrete house in Chalan Kanoa was fully engulfed by flames yesterday, according to the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services.

There were no reports of injuries nor was anybody treated for medical complaints at the scene.

DFEMS received a call at 11:38am from the Department of Public Safety reporting a structure fire in Chalan Kanoa District II.

Four emergency response units arrived at the scene. At 11:40am, Engine-2 from the Garapan Fire Station, Rescue-1 and Forestry-1 from Susupe Fire Station, and Medic-4 from Koblerville Fire Station responded to the scene. Rescue-1, Forestry-1, and Medic-4 were the first to arrive, followed by Engine-2 at around 11:48am.

The structure fire was deemed under control at 11:56am yesterday.

Preliminary investigation by the Arson Investigation Unit showed that the fire fully engulfed the structure. The fire reportedly started at the southeast part of the building. The cause is undetermined and pending further investigation.
