Interest for the upcoming Masters Basketball League, organized by the Basketball Association of the Northern Mariana Islands, is building as more teams are looking forward to competing.

This according to league coordinator Tony Rogolifoi, who said during a recent interview that four more teams have expressed interest in making a push for the two titles at stake.

With that, Rogolifoi said the total number of teams for the league has jumped from eight to 12.

The long-time basketball enthusiast explained that six teams will compete in the 35-and-over division, while the other six teams will compete in the 45-and-over division.

The league is tentatively set to begin on Nov. 29 as officials are giving way to the 2nd Annual DFS NYBA Invitational, which concludes tomorrow.

Rogolifoi said a meeting will be called soon to finalize all issues relating to the league. He, however, disclosed that all teams interested in fielding a team for the competition must pay an entrance fee of $400 per team. Payment should be made payable to the Basketball Association of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Games will be held at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, pending availability of the venue.

Rogolifoi explained that all players interested in taking part in the league must provide a copy of documents or identification cards that will be used for age verification.
