Wire thieves strike anew
Copper wire thieves struck at a residence in Dandan Homestead early this week, police said yesterday.
Department of Public Safety acting spokesman Sgt. Thomas A. Blas Jr. said the suspects cut off the power lines from the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.’s pole to the newly constructed house of Alvin Palacios Iglesias.
Blas said DPS received a report about the theft incident Tuesday at 2:59pm.
Blas said preliminary investigation conducted by Patrol Officer Murphy Paul showed that CUC crewmembers discovered the theft after arriving at the Iglesias’ residence to hook up the power.
The CUC crew found out that the power lines that had been prepared to be connected to the house had been cut off from the power pole.
Police were called.
Blas appealed to anyone who has information about the incident and other copper wire theft cases on Saipan to call the DPS Criminal Investigation Bureau at 664-9045 or the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 234-7272.
Last Friday, copper wire thieves also struck at a farmhouse belonging to Pacific Medical Center owner Dr. Fahd Al Alou along Airport Road. The suspects stole the drop line for the power lines from the CUC pole to the farmhouse’s weather head.
