Ex-convict gets 2 years and 3 months for ‘ice’ trafficking
The federal court yesterday ordered an ex-convict to spend two years and three months in prison for trafficking in methamphetamine or “ice.”
U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Alex R. Munson sentenced 40-year-old Jose C. Aldan to 27 months for two counts of distribution and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
Munson gave Aldan credit for the time he has already served in jail following his arrest last year. He also ordered the defendant to pay $200 in court assessment fee.
While in prison, Aldan will be required to participate in a drug treatment program as well as a vocational or educational program to include financial management.
After completing the jail term, Aldan will be placed on three years of probation. During the probationary period, he will be required to perform 300 hours of community work and is prohibited from consuming alcoholic drinks.
Munson said Aldan will remain at liberty until a prison facility has been designated.
Aldan was indicted on two counts of distribution and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
The defendant and counsel signed a plea agreement with the U.S. government. He pleaded guilty to the charges.
