An allegedly very drunk man created trouble at Nagoya Star Nightclub in Garapan and assaulted and shouted profanity at a responding police officer Saturday early morning.

Norman Anthony E. Omar, 35, was arrested for resisting arrest, disturbing the peace, and two counts of assault and battery.

During a bail hearing yesterday, Superior Court Presiding Judge Robert C. Naraja imposed 10 percent of the $4,000 cash bail for Omar’s temporary liberty.

According to Detective Peter R. Camacho, Omar had wanted to go into the restroom but a customer was there first.

Omar allegedly started pounding and screaming for the customer to open the door. When the customer came out, the defendant allegedly assaulted him.

The customer informed his companions about the incident. The companion confronted Omar, triggering an argument.

When police officer John Cabrera responded, he observed Omar screaming and slamming the club’s doors.

Omar allegedly suddenly attacked a male customer who was leaning against the rail and strangled him.

Officer Cabrera pulled the defendant away, but he refused to stop. Omar and Cabrera struggled. The defendant turned to Cabrera, shouted profanity at him and pushed the officer in the face.

Police officers Marvin Camacho and Nobert Mettao later arrived and assisted Cabrera in arresting the defendant, who was belligerent.

While the officers secured Omar in the rear seat of the patrol car, the defendant threatened officer Cabrera, “You just wait and see!”

Omar then allegedly repeatedly kicked the left door of the police’s car from the inside.

At one point, Omar almost shattered the vehicle’s glass window. (Ferdie de la Torre)
