Brown tapped to vitalize LISS
Dr E. Roland Brown has been hired as Academic Coordinator by Ladera International School to boost its fledgling program.
Finishing a successful year at NMA, and having education administration experience in both the United States and in Korea, Dr. Brown has been identified as the man for the job—the job of helping a brand-new international boarding school get off the ground.
Since coming on board a few weeks ago, Dr. Brown has helped staff three teaching positions and enrolled nine new students.
“We now have a core of 22 students to build from,” said Brown.
He also said there is a false impression that LISS is an ESL school.
“This false impression comes largely from the fact that LISS recruits heavily in Korea and other Asian nations,” he said.
Brown said his goals for the school are fourfold for now:
1) Make sure LISS remains an exemplary international school in its commitment to rigor.
2) Make sure the quality of the teaching staff is also exemplary when compared to any other school in the region.
3) Make decisions that will help—not hurt other private or public schools in the CNMI.
4) Recruit abroad in a way that will bring increasing numbers of students to LISS as well as to other schools in the CNMI and in a way that improves the image the rest of the world has of the Commonwealth. [I][B](PR)
