Oh, so this is austerity?

I read with interest the article regarding the OPA’s recommendations for the Legislative Bureau. It states that the OPA recommended that the LB “look at the Hawaii Legislature’s property controls for guidance.”

I guess director Joaquin Omar and deputy director Glenna Palacios-Reyes took that to mean that they had to book the next flight out to Hawaii to spend a week “observing” the Hawaii Legislature. This after Deputy Director Reyes spent a week in Guam “observing” the Guam election because she believes it comparable to running a Youth Congress election. Coincidentally, Senate Vice President Pete Reyes was also in Guam and also in Hawaii at the same time!

Actually, I’m not that stupid and it’s no coincidence. The LB seems to be loaded and Vice President Reyes is a-savin’ money cause he no longer has to pay for deputy director Reyes’ trips out of his office funds. “I guess” that the LB spending about $10,000 on this Hawaii junket is worth the money. “I guess” taxpayers are happy with how their money is being spent. I can only imagine what other “austerity” measures are being taken at the LB.
