Local news moves to Channel 2
Effective Jan. 1, 2007 the local news will be cablecast on Channel 2, the new local station. You will see the television personalities broadcasting the news that you see today, but you will see a new set and state-of-the-art broadcasting as Channel 2 launches.
Channel 2 News will be broadcast from its new studio, which is located on the third floor of the Nauru Building. In this newly formed independent channel, current news director, Chris Nelson, assumes the role of managing partner and station manager of the new joint venture with UMDA.
The local news will be broadcast Monday-Friday at 6pm and will be an hour-long show. It will be rebroadcast nightly at 10pm. In addition to the news, the channel will also feature visitor information for tourists on our islands. The visitor information will be inclusive of where to go, what to see, what to do, where to dine and all the other important and vital elements to visitors coming to the CNMI. The tourist information will be on a continuous loop and will run 24 hours per day with the exception of when the local news is being broadcast.
“This is a very exciting time for us,” said Nelson. “We are excited to bring a new and improved news program to the community and to provide vital tourist information to the visitors on our islands. With our in house production capabilities, we can make ad changes and update information on both the news and visitors program almost instantly, and we look forward to offering news and programming in both English and Japanese. This will be vitally important to our advertisers as our market continues to change rapidly as well. It’s nice to know that we can be proactive and change as fast as the market does.”
Advertising sales for Channel 2 news and the visitors programming will be handled by Couture Marketing. To receive an updated media kit or further information about advertising, please contact Andy Tidwell at Couture Marketing at 234-1305. [I][B](PR)
