The copper wire thieves are getting bolder. Now they are also stealing power meters.

Since last week, police received seven reported theft cases involving electrical wirings (copper) and power meters, according to Department of Public Safety acting spokesman Sgt. Thomas A. Blas Jr. yesterday.

Blas said residential houses in Kagman, Navy Hill, and Chalan Laulau had been burglarized and electrical wirings and power meters were stolen.

Blas said the latest incident of copper wire theft was reported by an employee of the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. on Saturday at 10:25am. The theft occurred at the Old Runway in As Perdido, south of Chico’s Auto Shop.

Blas said the suspects cut the power lines from one pole to the other, not far from a water pump station.

Pacific Telecom Inc. also reported that one of their jobsite in Kagman was hit by unidentified suspect/s who cut telephone lines, leaving the community in the area without phone services.
