Man allegedly beats up co-suspect in theft case
Police arrested on Thursday a 20-year-old man who allegedly beat up his co-suspect in a theft case.
Sheldon Ungilbesul Remoket, 20, was apprehended for assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
The victim, Esfy S. Papuch, was injured in the right ankle and knee. He sustained scratches to the neck and abrasions to the forehead, police said.
During a bail hearing yesterday, Superior Court Presiding Judge Robert C. Naraja imposed a $5,000 cash bail for Remoket’s temporary release.
Naraja appointed the Public Defender’s Office to represent the defendant.
Police said the beating happened at a basketball court in the Dandan Homestead on Oct. 20 at 10:35pm.
Preliminary investigation showed that the victim was at the basketball court drinking beer when Remoket appeared.
The victim told Remoket: “Brat, you the one that snitch on me!”
The defendant allegedly got mad, choked the victim and punched and kicked him repeatedly.
The victim told police that he, Remoket and another person were involved in a theft case and were recently arrested by police.
In other court news, a store employee was arrested for allegedly stealing the company’s sales in the amount of $17,678.56.
Arnel Ruga Del Rosario, 41, was arrested on Saturday for theft.
Judge Naraja yesterday set a $5,000 cash bail for Del Rosario’s temporary liberty.
Rosario allegedly admitted to his employer, Beijing Wholesale Co. in Gualo Rai, that he did not turn over the sales to the store from June to November 2006.
Rosario claimed to have sent the money to his parents and sister in the Philippines, court papers said.
