The Society of Human Resources Management-CNMI Chapter will recognize an Employer of the Year from among its member organizations at its December monthly meeting.

The Chapter’s board of directors recognizes that the Chapter’s growth and increasing attendance since its inception is due to a great extent to the support provided to the human resource function by the executive management of the companies represented by chapter members.

The Chapter’s Board of Directors are also aware many of its members’ involvement in the SHRM chapter is supported by their employers either financially or by allowing them the time to attend meetings and seminars and, also, to participate in committee activities. Each year, employers are becoming more and more aware of the value of the chapter and its activities to their HR function. However, it is fair to assume that their support is pragmatic in expecting a positive return to the company for their investment.

“The Chapter would like to recognize this support by acknowledging the employers who have done the most during 2006 to support their HR function and staff,” said the group in a statement.

All members are encouraged to submit a letter of nomination to the board of directors not later than Nov. 10. The board will review all nominations and announce the CNMI SHRM Employer of the Year at the December membership meeting.

The nominating letters should describe in detail the level of support provided. Examples of support could include support of SHRM membership, HR training activities, on-the-job personnel actions, upgrading of HR capabilities, and other HR-related involvement.

“This is an opportunity for members to show appreciation for the support they receive,” the SHRM statement said.

All nominations should be submitted to Angela Yamashita-Santos. Her email address is hrexec@picsaipan.com. [B][I](PR)
