Stress experts laud Nguyen website
SteveNguyenOnline.com, a website developed by Public School System behavior specialist Steve Nguyen to provide online assistance to public school teachers in the CNMI, has been recognized by an American group of experts dealing with trauma and stress.
The American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress—www.aaets.org—cited the excellence of Nguyen’s website, saying that SteveNguyenOnline.com is an exemplary website that aims to increase awareness of the effects of trauma and ultimately improve the quality of intervention for survivors.
Nguyen said he is very happy with this recognition. “This is a great honor and is validation and confirmation of the time and energy put into creating this quality-driven online resource center for professionals and consumers of behavior/classroom management and psychotherapeutic/counseling strategies,” he said.
Nguyen spent six months designing, developing, and perfecting his website, which is geared toward public school teachers.
“Since there’s been so many negative news lately about the lack of funding and not being able to open this program or that class, I want to give something positive for a change to highlight the things that we are doing right here at PSS,” said Nguyen.
Nguyen said he is dedicating his website to teachers, counselors, and school administrators in the CNMI. He had said that, although the website took about six months to finish, some of the behavior and classroom management materials in the website took almost two years to create. Nguyen said PSS didn’t shell out a single cent for this project.
“This website was created using my own money for the benefit of the teachers, counselors, and school administrators here in the CNMI,” he said.
Nguyen said the project has been his ongoing commitment to PSS and he would do everything to help with behavioral and classroom management issues here in the Commonwealth.
He said that, as a behavior specialist for PSS on Saipan, he helps try to find out why a student displays behavior problems and find ways to help the student learn new tools to manage their behavior. He also helps teachers so they could work better with students.
