Brenda Schultz thanks volunteers
For the second year in a row, a number of local ladies have been living a healthy lifestyle one kick at a time on the American Memorial Park and Garapan Elementary School pitches during the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association Women’s League.
While the UMDA Hot Salsa, Saipan Grand Hotel Mamma Mia’s, Fiesta Resort and Spa Femme Fatales, and Marianas Eye Institute Eye Ballers have been sprinting between the lines, a number of volunteers have been running the show behind the scenes.
Brenda Schultz gladly took on the brunt of the responsibilities last season and has been the heartbeat of the league in 2006, but she has received a lot of help this fall to ensure that Saipan’s women have an outlet for their athleticism.
As a player, Schultz has been working hard as one of the Femme Fatales’ fierce forwards but as an organizer she was charged with finding volunteers to coach, officiate, and keep track of the statistics.
In a recent email to the Saipan Tribune, Schultz took the time to thank a few of her partners that share her love of soccer and devoted their time to making it available to local women.
“Thank you to our referee Vince Stravino for volunteering to referee our games. You help make our community a better place to live in by volunteering your time to recreation. We really appreciate it,” she said.
Schultz also showed her appreciation to the on field mentors who spend their free time developing the world’s most popular sport locally.
“Thanks again to our coaches Wesley Bogdan, Nathan Tan, Soleman Gazi, Jaime Saiki, and M.D. Rokibul. We appreciate you teaching us about the game, helping us improve our skills, and sharing the spirit of soccer with us,” she said.
